ADMISSION TO THE MFA PROGRAM is based on a faculty committee's evaluation. Applicants are accepted for admission in the fall semester.
APPLICATION TO THE GRADUATE SCHOOL
All application materials must be submitted directly to the Graduate School, including an original manuscript.Accompanying materials (e.g., transcripts, letters of recommendations, GRE scores) will continue to be accepted through January 6.
ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT. Applicants must submit an original manuscript.
For poetry, submit up to 10 pages of poetry.
For fiction, submit up to 20-25 pages of fiction, which may be short stories, an excerpt from a novel or both.

DECEMBER 15 is the deadline for submission of the online application and manuscript to the Graduate School.
All applicants are considered for MFA fellowships and for nomination for Graduate School Fellowships. The GRE is not required for admission to the MFA Program.
UNIVERSITY WRITING PROGRAM (UWP) TEACHING ASSOCIATE APPLICATION.
If you hope to have funding during your time in the MFA Program, you are strongly encouraged to apply to teach in the University Writing Program. The Teaching Associate position gives students a tuition & curriculum fee waiver, health insurance and a stipend. The application for the Teaching Associate positions must be submitted on paper and mailed to the address below. We recommend that you complete and mail this application at the same time you submit your application and manuscript to the Graduate School. However, the deadline for submission of this application is February 1, 2014.
