Start Time: _______________Stop Time: _______________ Date: ______________________
Possible Points | Points Awarded | |
Takes or verbalizes body substance isolation precautions |
Establishes unresponsiveness |
Opens the airway and attempts to ventilate |
If unable to make the victim’s chest rise, repositions the victim’s head and tries to ventilate again |
If the chest does not rise with attempted breaths, even after repositioning the airway, performs the sequence of up to 5 back blows and up to 5 chest thrusts |
Opens the victim’s airway using a tongue-jaw lift and looks for an object in the pharynx; if the object is visible, removes it |
Repeats the sequences of attempts (and reattempts) to ventilate, up to 5 back blows, up to 5 chest thrusts, open the airway, visualize for an object and finger sweep if appropriate, and attempts to ventilate until the obstruction is cleared or advanced procedures are available to establish a patent airway |
If the FBAO is removed and the airway is cleared, checks breathing |
If the victim is breathing, checks for signs of circulation (pulse check and evidence of breathing, coughing, or movement); if there are no signs of circulation, begins chest compression |
If the victim is not breathing, provides rescue breaths |
If the victim is breathing and has a pulse, places victim in recovery position |
