M.Ed. student Afzal and Ph.D student Ahmad receive Innovation Challenge funding

Maria Afzal, MEd student in learning, media and technology, and Tariq Ahmad, a PhD student in computer engineering, were awarded $4000 in funding for their project, Antares Micro, at the recent Innovation Challenge hosted by the Berthiaume Center for Entrepreneurship.

Afzal and Ahmad proposed a novel approach to secure software, hardware and loT with their application called ProActive, which monitors security of the underlying software or hardware. A change in the security setting either manually or maliciously is recorded on the Blockchain. The change is validated as safe or malicious by querying the web and its community of users if needed. The app intends to create a community of security-aware users across the globe who protect and benefit each other by knowledge-sharing.
