Financial Aid
The School of Education encourages all undergraduate and graduate students
to take advantage of resources available at the University of Massachusetts
when financing their education. Undergraduate
Aid reviews scholarship opportunities and procedures to assist in financing
the education of undergraduate students. Graduate
Aid details the procedures and resources available to finance graduate
education.
Regardless of your income or eligibility for need-based financial aid, there
are a number of programs available to assist you in funding your education:
- Graduate School Fellowships: Graduate School Fellowships are awarded primarily
to incoming graduate students, each Fall semester, to promote the recruitment
and retention of academically excellent students. Current students may be
considered if any incoming awards are declined. The School of Education may
nominate a maximum of six candidates. Awards range from $8,000 - $10,000
and include a tuition waiver. Contact the Graduate Programs Office in the
School of Education (Room 123, Furcolo Hall; Telephone: 413-545-6984) for
further information.
- Aspiring Teachers Tuition Waiver
Scholarship: The Aspiring Teacher Program is a non-need based tuition
waiver program sponsored by the Massachusetts Office of Student Financial
Assistance, which is available to qualified undergraduate students pursuing
licensure in Mathematics, Science, and Foreign Languages. Recipients are
required to teach in Massachusetts for one year for each year the tuition
waiver is awarded. Contact the Educator Licensure Office in the School
of Education (Room 130a, Furcolo Hall; Telephone: 413-545-2701) for further
information. An application form is available by clicking (here).
- The School of Education Scholarships and Awards Program:
This program provides a variety of Scholarships and Awards to junior, senior,
and graduate students. The School of Education Scholarships and Awards Program
is administered by the School of Education Scholarships and Awards Committee
composed of faculty members from the School's three academic departments.
The School of Education Scholarships and Awards are made possible through
private donations made by the School's graduates and friends.
