Welcome!

We are pleased that you are interested in our Master's (M.Ed.) and Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degrees in School Counselor Education.

The School Counselor Education concentration prepares school counselors to be leaders in creating and maintaining learning communities that empower all K-12 students to excel and create meaningful, productive, and satisfying futures. School counselor education graduate students develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to become leaders in their schools and advocates for all K-12 students. Training is provided to help all school counselor education candidates become multiculturally competent, advocates for social justice and equity in education, and able to implement evidence-based, national professional school counseling standards and models of practice.

Our graduates are trained to implement Comprehensive Dvelopmental Guidance Programs that are consistent with the American School Counselor Association's National Model and the American Counseling Association.
The School Counselor Education concentration is closely connected to The Ronald H. Fredrickson Center for School Counseling Outcome Research & Evaluation (CSCORE) and students have the opportunity to work on the Center's research projects.
