    MTEL

    Education

All candidates for educator licensure in Massachusetts must pass the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL). Preparation workshops for the Communication and Literacy Skills (CLS) portion of the MTEL are held several times each year prior to the MTEL being administered. The University of Massachusetts Amherst School of Education policy requires all undergraduate students to pass the CLS test prior to admission into professional preparation programs at the University. Post-Baccalaureate and graduate students are also required to pass the Communication and Literacy Skills test, normally in their first semester of study.
