Educator Licensure Programs: STEP
The Secondary Teacher Education Program (STEP) is for prospective candidates
who are interested in teaching at the middle or high school levels in English,
history, mathematics, political science/political philosophy, the sciences,
or modern foreign languages (Chinese, French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish).
STEP is an accredited licensure program that recommends candidates for initial
licensure upon completion of the program. STEP offers several options for receiving
initial licensure; there are options for undergraduates, M.Ed. Candidates,
graduate students enrolled in other University programs, and Post-Baccalaureate
candidates seeking initial licensure through Continuing and Professional Education
(CPE) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
