New Students Orientations are held each summer for incoming freshmen and
transfer students who have chosen to complete their undergraduate degrees at
the University of Massachusetts Amherst. New Students Orientations allow students
to experience campus life for the first time and interact with other students.
Students are also provided with the opportunity to learn more about the programs
offered at the University.
On the first day of the orientation, students have the opportunity to attend
School and College General Sessions to learn more about the academic programs
that may be of interest to them. Staff from the Educator Information Office
will hold a general information session to answer questions that pertain to
education, provide detailed descriptions of the programs offered in the School
of Education, and encourage students to seek pre-licensure and Minor in Education
