Sara Whitcomb to receive award

Sara Whitcomb, assistant professor, Department of Student Development, has been selected to receive the 2014 University of Oregon College of Education’s Horizon Alumni Award. The award is given in recognition of alumni less than 10 year post-graduation who demonstrate a commitment to excellence and a significant or ongoing commitment to extraordinary work, research or volunteerism.

Whitcomb, who received a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 2009, was selected specifically in recognition of her work promoting mental health, social-emotional learning and positive behavioral support in schools, as well as for being a nationally-recognized expert in behavioral consultation and intervention.

“Your work has already had a positive impact on educators and K-12 students across the country, and your track record in the few short years since your graduation from UO demonstrates your leadership ability, community engagement, and scholarly contributions to the fields of education and school psychology,” said, Mia Tuan, Interim Dean, University of Oregon’s College of Education.
