State Testing and Graduation Requirements: What Can Massachusetts Learn from Other States? (2000-2001)

This project, supported by the Noyce Foundation and Verizon, included both a policy analysis and a policymaker conference organized around a framework for examining state assessment policies.

The analytic framework laid out five policy areas for policymakers to examine: standards, assessments, uses and consequences of assessments, supports for learning, and implementation strategies.

In February 2001, 70 Massachusetts policy leaders and stakeholders heard presentations by Center for Education Policy faculty and by leaders from Connecticut, New York, Texas, and Vermont, and discussed implications for state policy.
