An Evaluation and Analysis of the 12-to-62 Plan for Recruiting and Retaining Teachers in Massachusetts (2003)

Under a contract with the Massachusetts Department of Education's Educator Quality Office, the Center for Education Policy analyzed eight teacher recruitment and retention programs sponsored by Department of Education.

The study included both evaluations of the individual programs and policy recommendations on how to improve the State's overall teacher recruitment and retention strategy.

A stakeholder conference on teacher recruitment and retention issues, conducted as part of this project, attracted approximately 80 policy and practitioner leaders in May, 2002. The Massachusetts Department of Education has made significant program changes as a result.
