The Center for Educational Assessment in the School of Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst has a three-fold mission:
- to carry out theoretical
and applied research in the areas of educational and psychological assessment,
educational statistics, psychometric methods, and on related policy
issues and their implications;
- to bring the results
of theoretical, applied, and commissioned research conducted at the
Center and elsewhere in the area of educational assessment to the attention
of educational policy and decision makers in the Commonwealth; and
- to develop faculty
and student outreach efforts to inform and educate educational personnel
and policy/decision makers on assessment issues, current thinking on
conducting valid and reliable assessments and program evaluations, and
the interpretation of assessment results.
