Master of Education for Science Teachers
(Online and Field Based/Springfield)

The School of Education Department of Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies, in collaboration with the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the College of Natural Resources and the Environment, offers a field-based and online graduate degree program in science education to teachers. Most courses are offered onsite at Springfield High School of Science and Technology, while others are offered online.

This program, for elementary and middle school teachers, enhances knowledge of teaching science as well as basic science content knowledge. The program provides a course of study that prepares teachers for licensure in General Science grades 5 through 8. Both middle school and elementary school teachers will be working toward a Master's degree. This program is based in National Science Standards and State Science Frameworks. It takes a project-based, hands-on approach, and is taught by experienced and motivated science educators.

Interdisciplinary courses, a blend of content and pedagogy, will be cross-listed under both the School of Education and Science Departments.
