Professional Interests
Dr. Mary Deane Sorcinelli is Associate Provost for Faculty Development and Professor of Educational Policy, Research & Administration. Prior to joining UMass Amherst, she served as director of the Office of Faculty Development at Indiana University Bloomington.
Mary Deane's research interests include: academic career development, faculty development, mentoring, and college teaching and learning. She has published widely and directed a range of grant projects. She is currently PI of a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support a Mutual Mentoring Initiative and PI of a grant from Microsoft for Blended Learning.
In addition, Mary Deane served as Senior Scholar to the American Association for Higher Education (AAHE), and as President/Executive Board Member of the POD Network. In 2006 she was honored with the Spirit of POD Award for outstanding lifetime achievements and leadership in the enhancement of teaching, learning, and faculty development.
Mary Deane has worked in international settings that include Canada, China, England, Germany, Greece, Spain, Taiwan, and Egypt and was awarded a Whiting Foundation Fellowship to Ireland. |
