Overview
Johnson Creek
is one of few remaining free-flowing rivers in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan
area. Its watershed is highly developed, with 39 percent of the land area
devoted to single-family residential use.
The Johnson
Creek Watershed is comprised of several smaller watersheds, including
Crystal Springs, and Kelley, Sunshine, Butler, Veterans Creek, and Badger
Creeks. Together, these tributaries drain an area approximately 54 square-miles
in size and encompasing four cities in two counties. Johnson Creek flows
into the Willamette River, which in turn is a part of the Columbia River
Basin.
