Fire Safety for People with Disabilities

In case of emergency you will be well served if you have already developed a plan for how to respond. Emergency planning and fire safety tips for people with disabilities have been developed by Environmental Health and Safety.

Do the UMass Police and Environmental Health and Safety have your work and student room numbers? If not, be sure to inform them!

Campus Alerts and Emergency Notification Tools

Campus administrators use a variety of ways to notify people of a campus emergency. The UMass Amherst Campus Alerts system includes:

Broadcast e-mail sent to the university e-mail accounts of students, faculty and staff

Emergency text-messaging for cell phones. Sign up for Campus Alerts

Messages sent to key designated personnel in residence halls and academic and administrative facilities, who then personally spread the word to building occupants
