Conor White-Sullivan is a 2009-2010 undergraduate fellow with the NCDG. Conor is a social entrepreneur focused on citizen engagement and grassroots problem solving. He is the founder and CEO of Localocracy, a web platform that helps citizens engage with their local political issues, and currently sits on the Board of Directors at North Star: Self Directed Learning for Teens, a non-profit education center in South Hadley, MA.
Conor's background is in political organizing. In fall of 2008, he served as the Western Massachusetts Field Coordinator for a winning statewide ballot initiative. In summer of 2008, he served as the Assistant Canvass Director in the Northern Virginia office of the Community Voters Project, a non-partisan voter registration effort aiding low-income and minority voters.
Conor is currently a Senior at UMass Amherst, where he serves as Vice President of the UMass Entrepreneurship Initiative. In Spring 2010 he will graduate with a B.A. in Anthropology and a Minor in German. His current research is on Media Ecology and the impact of the internet on Culture, Individual Agency, Identity, and the Public Sphere.
