Birgit Rabl was a Doctoral Fellow at the NCDG while pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Vienna, Austria. She holds a Masters degree in communication and history of fine arts. She was a Guggenheim Fellow (Venice), co-managed the EuroPrix MultimediaArt (the European Union multimedia award), and coordinated Research and Development (R&D) for Austria's leading usability lab. Prior to pursuing her doctorate, she advised governmental institutions and the private sector on developing and implementing R&D framework projects in the field of information, society and technology. In her doctoral work she focuses on improving effectiveness of public funded research in Europe, with an emphasis on the diffusion of information and knowledge transfer of R&D results.
