Lebensläufe: Die Geschichte der Kinder von Golzow... (The Children of Golzow)
Synopsis: No DEFA documentary film is as renowned as the personal accounts of the children of Golzow. Interviews with and observations of Brigitte, Jürgen, Marieluise, Winfried and Elke, as well as the other children in the Oderbruch village provides a unique perspective of daily life in the German Democratic Republic. For more than 30 years, Winfried Junge and Hans-E. Leupold accompanied "their" children with unerring camerawork and complete honesty, creating a masterpiece about likeable, ordinary people. The longest running chronicle in the international history of filmmaking and predates the better known 7 UP series by Michael Apted. Awarded the Silver Bear at the 1982 Berlin Film Festival for Best Documentary. |
