Module Leader: Andrea Rinke

You will be encouraged to research and discuss ideas and issues concerning:

- the way in which works of fiction and film reflect key features of German society
- the historical, sociological and political background to the production of film and literature in Germany pre- and post-unification
- the role and function of specific language use in literature and cinema

You will research a topic of your own choice, related to the course programme, and give a prepared talk which will serve as the basis of class discussion (= oral component of the assessment, counts 40%)

You will also research and write a take home essay in German (1000-1200) on a topic of your choice, related to the course programme but different from your presentation. (=written component of the assessment, counts 60%) which will be set 2 March and is due in the week starting 4th of May.
