Accreditation:
The Department of Music & Dance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst
is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools
of Music. The University is accredited by the New England Association
of Universities and Colleges.
Enrollment:
Music program: 250 students; 190 undergraduates and 60 graduates.
Dance program: 50 undergraduates.
Facilities:
The Fine Arts Center houses extensive performing, academic and administrative
space, including the 2,000-seat Concert Hall, the 200-seat Bezanson
Recital Hall, and the electronic music studio. Additional space includes
the Music Library, located in the W.E.B. Dubois Tower Library; the 700-seat
Bowker Auditorium, located in Stockbridge Hall; and the Marching Band
facilities, located in Old Chapel. Dance studios and administrative
offices are in the Ruth Totman Physical Education Building.

pursue studies in nine schools and colleges which offer over 90 undergraduate
majors, 69 masters programs, and 51 doctoral programs. The 194 major
