Amer Ahmed

Amer Ahmed, Director of Intercultural Teaching and Faculty Development, acts as a liaison between TEFD and each of the Colleges and Schools to provide consultation on and direct assistance with diversity-related planning, strategies and programming.

Brian Baldi, Assistant Director, serves as the organizational lead for TEFD’s new chair/head/director and scholarly writing programming, conducts midterm assessments and teaching consultations, and assists with the Mellon Mutual Mentoring Initiative and other teaching and faculty development programs.

Diane Burns

Diane Burns, Program Coordinator/Business Manager, oversees TEFD’s budget and event planning, and directs the Distinguished Teaching Award application process.

Glenn Caffery

Glenn Caffery, Director of Educational Technology, focuses on active learning strategies offering consultations, midterm assessments, team-based learning orientations, and other services. He coordinates the Student-Centered Teaching and Learning Fellowship.

Kirsten Helmer

Kirsten Helmer, Senior Instructional Consultant/Lecturer, develops and oversees the programming for intercultural teaching and faculty development. She is available for one-on-one and group consultations focused on course design, curriculum development, assessment methods, and teaching strategies related to multicultural education, antioppressive pedagogies, intercultural competence, inclusive and culturally responsive teaching, and facilitating difficult dialogues. She also conducts midterm assessments and classroom observations.

Mei-Yau Shih

Mei-Yau Shih, Associate Director, identifies, develops and oversees campus-wide teaching initiatives, provides consultations to faculty, conducts program assessments, and is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Teacher Education & Curriculum Studies.

Gabriela Weaver

Gabriela Weaver, Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Director of the Institute for Teaching Excellence and Faculty Development, oversees initiatives across TEFD, represents both TEFD and the broader University on issues of teaching, learning, and faculty development, and is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry.

Jung H. Yun

Jung H. Yun, Director of New Faculty Initiatives, serves as the organizational lead on programs that support new and early career faculty, such as New Faculty Orientation, the Lilly Teaching Fellowship for Teaching Excellence, Mutual Mentoring, and time management. In addition, she also conducts midterm assessments, classroom observations, and individual consultations on teaching and broader faculty development issues.

Mary Deane Sorcinelli

Mary Deane Sorcinelli is currently the Distinguished Scholar in Residence, Office of the Dean of Faculty, Mount Holyoke College. She is also Director Emeritus of TEFD, and Professor Emeritus, College of Education.
