Mei-Yau Shih
Mei-Yau Shih is Associate Director, Center for Teaching & Faculty Development and Associate Professor, adjunct in the Department of Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies, at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dr. Shih has consulted with hundreds of faculty members on pedagogical innovation and teaching technology integration in the classroom and has conducted a variety of assessments on teaching and instructional technology use for both online and regular classroom settings. She has presented at regional, national, and international conferences and has given workshops in the areas of effective use of instructional technology, strategies of faculty development in technology, and techniques of technology assessment.
Dr. Shih was named a Fulbright Specialist by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars and was hosted by the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan during December 2010 and January 2011. As part of her award, she keynoted and led workshops on teaching and e-learning at a national, multi-university conference for new faculty and teaching assistants. She also offered professional consultation and assistance to faculty, faculty developers, and academic leaders at a range of universities in Taiwan. Dr. Shih publishes widely in both English and Chinese in the areas of teaching improvement, technology development and evaluation, faculty development; she directs a number of internal teaching development grants, and teaches at the graduate level.
