The Center for Teaching & Faculty Development – which brings together the staff and resources previously offered by the Center for Teaching and the Office of Faculty Development – has a long history on the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus that reaches back to the formation of the Lilly Teaching Fellows Program in 1986. Since then, the office has won two Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Grants (2007 & 2010), two Innovation Awards from the Professional and Organizational Development Network (2007, 2002), has been named one of the top four Model Faculty Development Programs in the U.S. and Canada (2006), and has received the Hesburgh Award for Faculty Development to Enhance Undergraduate Teaching and Learning (2000).
