The Center for Student Development’s administrative office located in the Student Union serves as headquarters for over 200 Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), Agencies, and Fraternities and Sororities on the University campus. The office staff provides assistance and guidance for organizational activities, program planning, and financial/business affairs.
Event Consultant
The Event Consultant serves as a liaison between RSO leaders and CSD staff and assists in the planning of their events. The position is filled each year during the fall and spring semesters, excluding holidays.
Hours per Week: 10-12, M-F
Salary: $8.50 per hour

Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Graduate Assistant for student organization events and resources, assists RSO leaders in preparing paperwork for event development. Contacts students to make appointments with an advisor. As events are registered ascertains whether a meeting with an Event Consultant is necessary. Completes paperwork for assigned events, meeting with RSOs when necessary. Reviews and advises RSOs on event budgets. Confirms accuracy of all event forms with an advisor before they are sent out.
- Upholds all policies and procedures for RSO event planning as outlined in the SR Manual and the Event Management Manual.
- Maintains event computer and paper files following a prescribed system for event development and management; enters data in computer files.
- Serves as primary receptionist for the RSO Resource Center. Directs walk in traffic, answers incoming calls and e-mail and takes phone messages and schedules appointments for staff. Assists in distribution of paychecks, packages, purchase orders and other items and performs related tasks as needed.
- Assists RSO members with general RSO procedures, filling out forms and computer use
- Participates in student staff meetings and attends all training sessions.
Qualifications
- Experience in the planning and execution of RSO events. Must have been an RSO officer for at least one year. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Ability to make assessments based on policy and procedure, and to problem solve accordingly.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to project a helpful and friendly attitude towards students and staff.
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently and to prioritize.
- Ability to organize written information and file appropriately with good attention to detail.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel preferred.
- Enjoys working with diverse group of students and staff.
