About CSAAL
The purpose of the CSAAL is to foster and integrate basic research on language in the African American community and applications of that research in educational, social, and cultural realms. The CSAAL, which is housed in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, serves as a center of research on various dimensions of African American Language and as a resource for communities across the country with a commitment to providing information about this linguistic variety.

Faculty
The CSAAL is directed by Lisa Green, Associate Professor of Linguistics, and associated faculty are from Afro-American Studies, English, Linguistics, Communication Disorders, and Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Smith College.
