Jim started working at the UMass Cranberry Station in August 2006. He is responsible for maintaining approximately 18 acres of cranberries (State Bog and Rocky Pond Bog) and for managing all of the on-site facilities. He oversees all electronic on-bog weather sensors, irrigation systems, fleet vehicles, farm equipment maintenance and a weather recorder for NOAA. He supervises several trade workers and provides production information for various local, state, and federal agencies as needed. Jim works closely with the researchers at the Cranberry Station to assure proper management of all projects that are conducted on State and Rocky Pond Bog. He also oversees a community work project with the Massachusetts Dept. of Corrections which utilizes inmate personnel to suppliment staff shortages in both work areas of the farm, and the facilites of the Cranberry Station.

Prior to joining our staff, Jim worked for 32 years in county and federal law enforcement. He joined the MA Cultivated Blueberrry Growers Association in 2001 and was appointed VP of the Association in 2002. Jim currently serves on the Plymouth County Sheriiff's Department, Farm Advisory Board, and the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, Comunity Relations Board for MCI Plymouth MA. He also owns and operates his own blueberry farm.
