EPA SEEKING GROWER COMMENT ON DEVRINOL

On March 16, the EPA opened a public comment period relating to the reregistration of Devrinol(r) herbicide by United Phosphorous, Inc., (UPI).

Between now and May 16, growers have the opportunity to provide their comments to the EPA about the important economic and production benefits they receive from Devrinol (napropamide).  It is a selective pre-emergence herbicide which controls the majority of broadleaf weeds and annual grasses found in crops such as strawberries, cranberries, tomatoes, peppers and broccoli as well as fruit and nut trees, vines, turf and ornamentals and tobacco.

"Devrinol has been relied upon by growers for more than 20 years and offers economical, safe, effective weed control to help protect valuable crops from yield-robbing weeds," says Jeff Pritchard, vice president and general manager of UPI, Trenton, N.J. "This public comment period provides opportunity for grower to express their support of and need for this herbicide."
