Ning Zhang

Assistant Professor

I am an age researcher with a focus on improving care quality of older adults with obesity and other chronic conditions in long term care settings.  In particular, I am interested in identifying and assessing the special care needs of these vulnerable older adults, and examining various strategies to improve their quality of care and quality of life.

Current Research

Currently, I have been working on a study that examines the association of weight status and occurrence of falls and hip fractures in nursing home residents. The preliminary results indicated that the obese residents had lower risks for falls while underweight residents had higher risks.Further, we plan to explore the movability patterns among residents with various weight status.
