Campus Planning: A division of Facilities & Campus Services

Idea Collector

Welcome to the Idea Collector!

If you could create the ideal space and location on campus, where would you… eat, study, play, meet, rehearse, perform, exercise, socialize, celebrate?

Is your perfect space and location already on campus?  Why is it great?  Is there a needed space that’s missing?  Could an existing space be re-imagined to contribute more to student life and the UMass Amherst community?

Student Affairs and Campus Life – and Campus Planning – are looking for your input as we imagine what’s possible in the UMass Amherst campus of the future.  Whether it’s a place or location that’s already awesome, a function that’s needed right now or your Utopian vision for the future – we want to hear from you!

Here is how to use the Idea Collector:

Note: the Idea Collector is best seen in Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari (not yet on Explorer 8 or 9).

On the first page we will ask you to tell us in general about yourself – who you are, where you reside and how you get to campus.  Choose Continue, and you will proceed to the Campus Map where we have provided a number of activity types to choose from as icons displayed on the left of the map within LearningRecreational and Living categories.  Click on an icon from the list under each category and click to place it on the map to tell us where you wish to have support for a particular activity.  Click on the icon you have placed again to add a comment to tell us more about your current needs, and save the comment before moving on to another activity.  Add as many activities as you like under each of the three categories.  If you cannot find an icon for an activity, you can add a new activity within each category.   Click Next or click on each category name to expand the icon options within each category.  When you have completed the Living category activities, choose Submit to finish the survey.  You will then have the option to see the ideas of others.

Click on the photo and share your vision for the future of the student experience in the Idea Collector – we are eager to get your feedback!
