How We Can Help

  • psychological counseling
  • career development
  • stress management
  • learning assessments
  • case management for students with psychological disabilities
  • biofeedback
  • workshops

For Students with Documented Psychological Disabilities

We provide case managers who work with the student to review academic progress and needs, offer strategic suggestions and support, facilitate student requests for academic and non-academic modifications, and make appropriate referrals.

Do You Think You Have a Learning Disability or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder?

The initial step in receiving a Learning Disability or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder evaluation is to schedule an intake appointment by contacting Counseling and Assessment Services (123 Berkshire House, 545-0333). Based on the information obtained in the intake, testing may be recommended to assess the presence of a Learning Disability, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and/or psychological conditions that may affect learning. Any of these test batteries may be recommended alone or in combination.

Academic or Personal Concerns?

Individual and couple short-term counseling is available with a professional staff member. All relationships are strictly confidential. Possible issues that can be addressed include:

  • academic difficulties (study habits, concentration, test taking)
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • drug/alcohol abuse
  • eating patterns
  • family concerns
  • loneliness
  • personal growth
  • stress

Managing Stress

We provide help with this frequently occurring college experience through supportive counseling, behavior therapy, relaxation training, and biofeedback.

Stress indicators may include feeling anxious, headaches, insomnia, irritability, procrastination, and an inability to concentrate.

Questions About a Major or Career Path?

Staff can help assess interests, talents, skills, and values. We help students develop a process for making career choices, for deciding which major to choose, and for clarifying career/life directions prior to graduation.
