Substance Abuse

CCPH provides confidential assessment and short-term therapy for individuals struggling with substance use issues. Our clinicians collaborate with the staff of BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students) and the Collegiate Recovery Programs, both located at University Health Services.

When a student’s substance use requires treatment beyond the scope of our services, we can help connect students to other resources, such as detox, intensive outpatient, and inpatient treatment programs: www.umass.edu/counseling/resources/community-resources (Please refer to your health insurance policy for covered facilities.)

With a student’s consent, we often find it helpful to involve family members in the decision making regarding treatment. CCPH provides voluntary services only. We do not provide court ordered evaluations or mandatory treatment but can help refer students to appropriate community services.
