Mind / body medicine

"I would rather know the person who has the disease than know the disease the person has." –Hippocrates

Mind/body medicine focuses on the interactions among the brain, mind, body and behavior, and the powerful ways in which emotional, mental, social, spiritual and behavioral factors can affect health.

The Mind/Body Medicine Clinic

The Mind/Body Clinic at University Health Services cares for people with concerns including anxiety/panic attacks, gastrointestinal symptoms, cardiovascular symptoms, headaches, chronic pain, sleep disturbances, dysfunctional habits and ADHD/ADD.

Following referral by a UHS primary care provider, patients are evaluated by clinic staff. Treatment can include computerized biofeedback, clinical hypnosis, autogenics training and other forms of relaxation therapy.

UHS' Mind/Body Medicine Clinic is staffed by a licensed clinical psychologist certified in biofeedback/behavioral medicine.

Services are provided in UHS’ Specialty Clinic, on the Health Center’s ground floor; call (413) 577-6511.

CCPH also staffs a behavioral medicine clinic that provides a weekly, one hour intake screening for up to two clients. After clinical assessment clients may be seen by a clinical psychologist and intern for on-going treatment in biofeedback, hypnosis, autogenics, EMDR, or appropriate relaxation therapies.

Services are provided by direct referral from a CCPH or UHS clinician or student directly to (413) 545-0333.
