Junior Year Writing (CompLit 397B) is not
simply a class that all Comparative Literature majors are
required to take in order to graduate. It is an experience
that involves determination, thorough research, and long
hours of hard work, as well as the confidence that only serious
scholars well-familiar with their area of expertise are able
to demonstrate.
For years students enrolled in the class
have successfully presented their work at a mini-conference
organized at the semester's end. In order to acknowledge
their effort futher, and to allow their outstanding achievements
to reach a wider audience, the Comparative Literature Program
at UMass Amherst is proud to present the first of, we hope,
many online publications of the five best essays written
for the class.
