The presence of the four liberal arts colleges in close vicinity to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, (Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith Colleges), offers us a unique resource. Five Colleges, Inc., affords the opportunity for the development of Five College certificate programs (such as Culture, Science and Health or Latin American Studies) for undergraduates, and for the availability of consulting faculty on our graduate M.A. and Ph.D. Comprehensive and Dissertation Committees.

We are grateful for the cooperative spirit and energy of our Five College faculty colleagues, who have delivered papers at conferences we have organized, and have served on our graduate committees:

Professor Leah Hewitt
Professor Susan Niditch
Professor Andrew Parker

Hampshire College
