Although I'm currently taking some time off from teaching to work on my dissertation, I was a teaching assistant in the Department of Comparative Literature at UMass for five years. Since the courses I teach/TA all have a reasonably hefty written component, I have had the opportunity to witness such brutal crimes against the English language that I was forced to develop grammar handouts in self defense. I have tried to be brief, yet amusing in my handouts; I hope that you find them useful.
