Victoria Acosta

I am a Junior Comm major and a first year peer advisor. I am from Revere, MA, home of the first public beach and Kelly’s Roast Beef (awesome seafood)! I am half Mexican and half Colombian so my top area of interest within the major would have to be Interpersonal Communication and Culture; I love studying and analyzing the different ways people of different cultures communicate. I am in ROTC and will be joining the Army upon graduation. My passion in life is to help students (particularly ROTC/JROTC students) navigate their path, and help them be the best they can be. I am excited to start helping students with being a Peer Advisor this year!

Cayli Armstrong

I am a Junior Comm major and an Information Technology minor. I'm from Peabody, Massachusetts and am so happy I decided to come to UMass! After spending my freshman year enrolled as exploratory, I chose Comm as my major. After taking a few Comm courses, I realized that it was the direction I wanted to pursue because of how many opportunities there are. I was fortunate to study abroad last spring in Australia. I'm so excited to be a Peer Advisor and help other students realize all of their opportunities. Besides Comm, some other things I enjoy are fixer uppers, traveling, and most importantly dogs!

Molly Avery

I am a senior Comm major with minors in Psychology and Art History.  I am from West Roxbury, MA, which is a town within the city of Boston. I love to travel, try new foods, and go to spin classes. I loved spin so much that I taught my own class this summer and will be teaching at the Rec Center this year. I am passionate about studying Communication because of its versatility and necessity to all other subjects. My favorite concentrations in the field are Performance Studies and Interpersonal Communication.

Heather Benson

I am a senior Comm major with a minor in Sociology. I transferred to UMass as a sophomore from Framingham State University and can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made. I'm from Wilmington, MA, which is twenty minutes outside of Boston. I am a country music fanatic and Chipotle addict. I work promotions for Country 102.5, which has been such an amazing experience for me in terms of forming me to be an outgoing and confident person. I hope to stay in media after graduation because of its impact on today's society. In my free time you can find me working at the Recreation Center, working out at the Recreation Center, or napping.

Julia Driscoll

I am a junior Comm and Political Science double major. Originally, I’m from Reading, MA, where we chant our zip code at football games. I transferred to UMass at the start of my sophomore year, and I can say without reservation that it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. This past summer, I worked as an external relations intern at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute, as well as a digital content intern at the Massachusetts Democratic Party. I’m a huge Red Sox fan, an avid skier, and the winner of the prestigious Best Tweeter 2015 superlative.

Ashlyn Jackson

I am double major with Comm and BDIC. My focus in Comm is television broadcasting and my BDIC is fashion advertising and marketing productions. I am from West Roxbury, MA. My interests are sports, dance, fashion and beauty. I am in a sorority here on campus called Sigma Kappa – I encourage everyone to Go Greek! I am so excited to start this school year and can't wait to be your PA.

Matthew Leonard

I am a Senior Comm and Journalism double major, with a Film Studies certificate. I was raised in Sandwich, Massachusetts and, yeah, I hear a lot of jokes about the name. I'm interested in video production, photography, and radio. I have a passion for music, even though I can't play any instruments. At UMass I've been a member of WMUA since my freshman year and have had a variety of shows and volunteer positions at the station. You can also find me working at Earthfoods Cafe, where I've been for two years! I do everything in my power to avoid eating corn, even though I don't mind the taste. I'm looking forward to becoming a stronger writer with a versatile voice, and I can't wait to help other students find their passion.

Casey Lyons

I am currently a Junior Comm major with a minor in Information Technology. I am from Malden, MA, which is directly on the orange line and only a few stops away from Boston by the T After transferring to UMass last spring semester, I felt that I had found my niche at the university and in Comm; I’m completely fascinated by all aspects of the field, specifically social media, technology and mass media, and race, gender, and representation in our society. In my spare time I can be found carrying my camera around, as well as thrifting, traveling, planting, or drinking a coffee. I also love to analyze and talk about movies and music, so whether it’s about academics or your favorite film -feel free to come discuss any of these things with me!

Alex McInnis

I am Senior Comm major and will be graduating this December! I grew up in Braintree, MA, which is small suburb right outside of Boston. I am a returning peer advisor and I am so excited to be back in the ILC doing something I love: helping Communication students. Being a Communication major is such a wonderful opportunity because it is such a versatile field; there are so many different avenues in which I can explore and take my studies. Ideally, I would like to become a Public Relations specialist focusing mainly on social media. Upon returning to UMass this fall I completed a summer internship with a small PR firm in Boston called Kel & Partners as a PR and social media intern, which has opened so many doors for me professionally and has deepened my love for the field of Communication. In my free time I like to run, practice yoga, and hang out with my girlfriends and drink coffee. I look forward to working with each and every one you!

Alexa Rockwell

Hi, I’m Alexa! I am a senior Comm and Journalism double major with a film studies certificate minor. I’m from Andover, MA, a suburban town north of Boston. On campus, I am a member of a stand up comedy group called Folks with Jokes and I write for and act in a student-run television show called Boys to Men. I studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland during the spring of my junior year and had a wonderful time. I love meeting and talking to new people. I am absolutely in love with UMass and will do everything in my power to make sure everybody else is, too.

Hannah Tarr

I am a Senior Comm major with a minor in Psychology. Some of my interests in Comm include social media, and entertainment television broadcasting. I am from Methuen MA, which is about 30 minutes north of Boston. Some of my hobbies include working out and just being adventurous with my friends. Emma Tavolieri

I am a Senior Comm major with minors in Education and Resource Economics and a certificate in Public Policy and Administration. In Comm, I’m interested in social media, leadership, issues surrounding social justice, and the significance of interpersonal relationships. I’m from Newton, MA, which is just a few T stops away from Boston. In my free time, I’m probably busy being a diehard Boston sports fan or doing artwork. Fun fact - a collage I made of Tom Brady made it to the Patriots Instagram account and has racked up over 60,000 likes! I work as an Area Supervisor for Residence Hall Security. I went abroad to the UK to study Communication and Marketing on the Oxford Summer Seminar in 2016, and served as a Junior Dean for the seminar in 2017.

Kayla Timmins

I am interested in many of the different aspects of the Comm major, and my main interests are in broadcasting/social media and in advising. Fun fact: I got to live in Ireland for a month, where I volunteered at radio station and got to have my own show. In my free time I enjoy watching sports, drinking coffee, and hanging out with my friends. I am a first year peer advisor and I am super excited to get to work with many different students this coming year!
