Film Screening & Discussion: She's Beautiful When She's Angry

The Community, Climate, and Social Justice Committee presents a free screening followed by a panel-led discussion of She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry, the feminist revolution that shaped our world today. A discussion will follow at 3:30 PM in the Communication Hub on the 3rd floor.


Liane Brandon - An award winning independent filmmaker, photographer and UMass Amherst Professor Emeritus, who co-founded New Day Films, and is one of the first independent women filmmakers to emerge from the Women’s Movement.

Kimberlee Pérez - Assistant Professor of performance studies and has been a feminist since before being born into a family with three male siblings, where she consistently encountered double standards. As a women’s studies undergraduate, she developed language for her feminism, which is intersectional, transnational, queer, and informed primarily by woman of color feminism.

O. Angela Bowser - Communications and Curriculum Manager for the department, she also happens to be an Emmy Award winning television journalist, having worked in New Jersey, Oklahoma, and Arizona, before venturing into non-profits and higher education.

Alyssa Labrie - A Western Mass local and UMass Amherst senior studying media communications, film studies, and theatre, she is particularly interested in feminist and queer film/theatre studies and the use of such art forms as a way to bring about social change.
