Join the Celebration: Be a Commencement Volunteer

Share the joy of 4,000 graduating seniors with their 20,000 guests as they leave their UMass Amherst student days and launch their newly minted alumni lives.

To ensure smooth sailing on their departure date — Saturday, May 23rd — we need you to marshal, usher, and aide in the success of this important event.

Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

Role
* I would like to volunteer as:
: Organize graduates by school or college for the student processional into the stadium, escort them onto the field, and serve as field monitors.
: Greet guests as they enter the stadium, distribute programs, give directions, and direct guests to their seats.
: Help guests in the stands with seating, directions, and program information.
: Transport guests with mobility issues from handicapped parking area and bus stop to stadium entrance gates.

Important Dates
There will be two pre-Commencement meetings:
Volunteer Orientation: Wednesday, May 13th at 10:00 a.m. in Mahar Auditorium
Volunteer Rehearsal: Thursday, May 21st at 10:00 a.m. at McGuirk Alumni Stadium
Report times:
Aides and Ushers: Saturday, May 23rd at 10:00 a.m.
Marshals: Saturday, May 23rd at 10:30 a.m.
Golf Cart Drivers: Saturday May 23rd at 10:00 a.m.
Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
Saturday, May 23rd at 2:30 p.m. in the Massachusetts Room at the Mullins Center
