UMass Amherst

Commencement 2007

What Guests Need to Know:
Help for Those With Disabilities

Handicapped-Accessible Parking
Guests with documented disabilities who need handicapped-accessible parking adjacent to the stadium must complete and submit an application form by Friday, May 9. To receive a copy of the form, call (413) 545-0892. Disability Services must also receive a copy of your HP placard or HP or V license plate registration.
Navigating the larger parking lots and the stadium often requires walking long distances. Guests with limited mobility are encouraged to be dropped off at designated bus stops. These stops are regularly serviced by the shuttle buses.
A limited number of golf cart taxis will be available at the stadium from the main gate and at gate 4 to assist guests to and from on-field seating and to and from the tent reception areas.
Lift-Equipped Shuttles
Lift-equipped vans and shuttle-buses will make frequent runs from Parking Lot 25 (see Campus Map) to the stadium. To request a ride, call (413) 545-2086.
Stadium Wheelchair Seating
There is limited wheelchair seating on the west side of the stadium on the lower level of the stands. It is accessible from the southwest ramp at Gate 4 (see Stadium Map).
On-field seating is also available for guests using wheelchairs and ambulatory guests who cannot climb stairs. This seating is level with (but apart from) that for graduating students, and can be reached through gates 3 and 4 (see Stadium Map).
On-Field Seating
Folding chairs will be available at the rear of the field for ambulatory guests who cannot climb stairs. This seating is level with (but apart from) that for graduating students, and can be reached through gates 3 and 4 (Stadium Map).
Sign or Oral Interpreters
Sign-language or oral interpreters are available but must be requested no later than Friday, May 9 by calling (413) 545-0892 V/TTY or sending an email (with the subject line “Commencement Interpreter Request”) to Jamiep@stuaf.umass.edu.
