For Faculty

Faculty attending the Undergraduate Commencement ceremony should assemble by the flagpole at the south end of McGuirk Alumni Stadium by 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24. The program begins promptly by 12:30 p.m.

Rental of academic regalia is provided free of charge to faculty. To order yours, simply call Millie Hanas at the University Store at 545-2619 before May 14, 2008. You may also fax your request to 545-4396 or send your request by email to mhanas@aux.umass.edu. The garments may be picked up during the days just prior to Undergraduate Commencement and returned to the same location afterwards. You will need to supply your height, weight, cap size, and school colors (if known). You may also purchase academic regalia through the University Store at your own expense.

Light refreshments will be provided to faculty in the Faculty Robing Room located in room 8 of the Facilities Building at the Stadium.

By participating in Commencement, you will honor your students and their families. You can help to create memories they will value always.

At Commencement 2008, you will find that we have acted on your suggestions.

You will find a greater faculty presence.: There will be faculty receiving lines at stadium entrances, projected on large video screens.
You will find a shorter ceremony.: There will be a formal faculty recessional before the students receive medals from their Deans.
You will find a proud celebration.: Faculty will adjourn to their school/college tent to receive and celebrate their graduating seniors and their families.

Academic Regalia rental will be provided free of charge.
