The Class of 2005 celebrates itself before moving on.

Commencement Fact Sheet
Commencement weekend activities at UMass Amherst include a ceremony for undergraduates Sunday, May 22 and separate ceremonies Saturday, May 21 for the Graduate School and the Stockbridge School.

Carillon Concert Follows Undergraduate Commencement
The innovation at this year's undergraduate commencement will be a post-ceremony carillon concert on the grounds of the campus's beloved Old Chapel at 12:30 p.m.

Adina Giannelli Chosen Student Speaker for the Class of 2005
After graduation, Giannelli says she has been selected to be part of Teach for America and will spend the summer training and teaching summer school in Houston, Texas.

21st Century Leaders will be Honored at Commencement
These recipients are nominated by faculty for strong leadership qualities; noteworthy original research; community service; the achievement of success by overcoming extraordinary personal circumstances, or public presentation through art, performance or athletic ability.

UMass Amherst to Award Four Honorary Degrees
Douglas Berthiaume ’71, Heriberto Flores ’73, ’91 M.Ed., Robert L. Gluckstern and Dell Hathaway Hymes will be honored at ceremonies May 21-22.

2005 Teaching Awards
Excellence in classroom teaching, research and scholarly activity, and academic advising are recognized each year at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Seniors Plant Roots for UMass Amherst
Members of the Class of 2005 celebrated Arbor Day by planting their class tree, a European White Birch, outside Goessmann Lab.
