Class of 2004…
Class Tree Planting
The planting of the class tree is a time-honored tradition which dates back to 1867. When walking across campus, look carefully at the base of trees. You will see stone markers engraved with the year of the class that planted that particular tree.

The 2004 tree, a cherry tree (Prunus maackii), was planted April 30th (Arbor Day) by the following class members:
Adam Bouvier, Mike Harte, Tariq Joyner, Naoya Kinuta, Jacquelyn Leahy, Kenny Luong, Bethany Lynch, Derrick Ma, Matt O'Neill, Isabel Silang-Cruz, Sophin Tep and Liz Trimarchi.
Landscape Architecture professor Jack Ahern assisted. The tree was presented on behalf of the University Without Walls (UWW) program by UWW senior Ray Aubin (Stockbridge '72).
Class Gift: The Senior Campaign
The Senior Campaign is a UMass Amherst tradition and is
the first chance for you, as a graduating senior, to show
your appreciation and begin a tradition of philanthropy for your
alma mater.
For the second year in a row, the University of Massachusetts Amherst
and the University of Connecticut have challenged each other to have
the Senior Campaign with the highest participation rate, the highest
average gift, and the most money raised. To win this challenge, and
make a difference in the lives of the UMass Amherst students who will
follow in your footsteps, we need every senior to become involved.
Your gift will support your school, college, or department, as you
choose, or you can direct it to any other area of interest at UMass
Amherst.
Join your classmates in winning this year’s UMass Amherst/UConn
Senior Campaign Challenge. There are several ways you can participate:
- Make your pledge when a student from the UMass Amherst Annual
Fund calls you.
- Send your gift to:
