The Center for Nutrition in Sport and Human Performance provides vision and education in establishing sound nutritional and fitness practices associated with participation in athletic or related exercise programs.

This Center - the first of its kind - offers a comprehensive program of practical, applied nutrition and fitness education in the area of exercise, sport, and human performance to the University and area communities.

The Center also promotes education and research in the area of proper nutrition and fitness for individuals engaging in strenuous physical activities throughout the life span. This includes not only the competitive athlete, but any individual who is interested in maximizing physical activity through sound nutritional practices.

The Center's ability to interact with coaches, trainers, team physicians, faculty, researchers, and the Athletic Administration regarding nutritional issues has a major impact on sports performance and injury prevention in student-athletes on campus.

The Center provides educational support for health and fitness professionals as well as off campus coaches and athletic trainers who typically do not have formal training in sport/exercise nutrition. Education regarding issues of weight management, nutrition supplementation, eating disorders, and chronic fatigue due to poor eating behaviors are provided.
