The
main goal of our research is to understand
the role of sex steroid hormones in
modulating cognition across the lifespan
in primates. We use the rhesus monkey,
a species which shares many characteristics
with humans in terms of brain organization,
cognitive ability and reproductive endocrinology
to investigate this issue.
Monkeys
participate in noninvasive studies aimed
at examining the relationships between
gonadal hormones and cognitive performance,
motor function and emotional processing.
We are particularly interested in elucidating
sex differences in cognition in adulthood
and aging
