Undergraduate Assistants
20 hr Work Study/Non-Work Study  Position (Outreach Assistant for Institutional Diversity)

A. General Description: 20 Hour Work Study/Non-Work Study Position:

The Outreach Assistant will work with the Associate Director for Institutional Diversity to support the activities of recruitment and representation of diverse populations.  S/he will engage in providing accurate information about CMASS programs, services and resources as well as uphold the mission and vision of CMASS. This position offers opportunities to: practice multitasking, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.  Reappointment is dependent on department need, satisfactory performance evaluation, experience, academic standing and funding availability.

B. Required Duties:

*Represent CMASS in new student summer orientation and Open Houses.
*Facilitate informational presentations to middle school and high school students regarding campus life.
*Answer questions and provide referrals during the Minuteman Roundup.
*Compile statistical information as well design charts for reports.
*Create informational packets for students interested in learning about CMASS/UMASS.
*Assist other areas of CMASS as needed.

C. Minimum Requirements

*Undergraduate student in good academic standing and enrolled in a degree program.
*Able to work 20 hours a week and meet work requirements.
*Experience maintaining accurate up-to-date records.
*Excellent oral/listening/writing skills and interpersonal skills.
*Comfortable interacting with diverse audiences of 10 to 50 including *parents, transfer/first year/high school/middle school students and alumni.
*Ability to solve problems and make informed decisions.
*Competence with Microsoft Office and Excel.
