COMP LIT 335: Comic Art in North America

An introduction to comic art, from the beginnings of the newspaper comic
strip through the development of books, the growth of graphic novels, and
current developments in electronic media. We focus on the history of
aesthetics of the medium, comparison between developments in the United
States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and French Canada and the social and cultural
contexts in which comic art is created and consumed.
