This course provides an introduction to Native American Indian art and
architecture of North and Latin America. It focuses on the modern and
contemporary periods (with some attention to archaeological art), exploring
traditions in architecture, sculpture, painting, masks, textiles, and
ceramics. The first half of the semester concentrates on the Woodlands,
Plains, and Southwest; the second on the Northwest Coast, Arctic, Mexico
and Guatemala, Central America, the Andes, and Amazonia. Percentage of Latin American, Caribbean and/or Latino content: 25%
