NIALL STEPHENS
I’m a PhD candidate in Communication at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from University College Dublin (Ireland), and a master’s in Government from Harvard University. I have worked as a teacher in the U.S. and in Chile, and in the U.S. labor movement.
I am interested in the global dimension of social and political change, and in the technological mediations and cultural articulations of which transnational hegemonies and counter-hegemonies consist. My PhD dissertation is about indigenous and environmentalist discourses, particularly around the Mapuche and southern Chile.
