CITI will accept grant applications from one or more partnerships from each PreK-16 Regional Network. Applicants may apply for either of the following funding sources, which will be awarded on a competitive basis:
- CITI will fund at least four grants, in the amount of up to $50,000 per grant, that will be allocated on a competitive basis to applicants affiliated with the PK-16 Regional Networks. Each successful grantee will receive up to $50,000 to (1) provide intensive professional development training to an identified group of in-service teachers (from multiple school districts) to extend their knowledge and pedagogy of infusing information technology in core academic courses; (2) provide a structured plan of professional development experiences for in-service educators and (optional) administrators that may include (spring or summer) Institutes, workshops, seminars and on-going learning experiences; (3) opportunities to learn about and share existing promising practices in the partnership region; and (4) support follow-up activities for teachers in Summer and Fall of 2005 to expand and replicate these promising practices.
- --CITI will fund one regional project to replicate the Boston Area Advanced Technological Education Connections (BATEC) model. BATEC is a regional model (linking public schools, two and four year higher education institutions and industry partners) for developing and promoting a coordinated, self-sustaining, K-16 regional information technology education and workforce development system. Up to $30,000 will be provided to a lead school district and its regional partners seeking to replicate one or more aspects of the BATEC model. BATEC will also receive funding to provide technical assistance and support for model replication activities. For more information about the BATEC model go to www.batec.org.
